Run to the hills...

After exhausting myself doing the Seven list, I had barely enough energy to enjoy to Marilyn Manson / Iron Maiden concert last night. I missed the opening act, and got there before 7pm in time to catch Manson. He had very little interaction with the crowd, other than getting them to sing along. The music sounds awesome but the vocals were a bit disappointing. The biggest responses were for the 3 cover versions that did so well - Sweet Dreams, Tainted Love and Personal Jesus. Costumes of the band were audacious, and Mr Manson's hand frequently found its way to his shorts (under his long skirt).Very enjoyable and yet lacking something...and not nearly as outrageous as one would expect.

Manson played for over an hour and then Maiden came on just before 9pm. Great reception at the start, major technical hitch with the bass guitar that took about 5 minutes to fix (Bruce kept us entertained with parlour tricks), and a roaring set til 10.30pm (curfew - that must be new coz it used to be 11pm). They crowd got louder in their responses towards the end. Bruce Dickinson's voice is utterly amazing live! And yet...it wasn't as much fun as Metallica's last two concerts.

Well, yesterday I had meetings and loads of crap so maybe I was just too tired to appreciate the musical wonder of both Manson and Maiden properly.
